Monsanto darling Bill Northey, who was just reelected as Iowa’s Secretary of Agriculture, also has a history of financial ties with Monsanto. Northey, a Republican with a strong allegiance towards biotechnology, unsustainable industrial agriculture, and genetically-modified organisms (GMOs), beat out Francis Thicke, a Democrat who operates an organic dairy farm and believes in bringing local, sustainable, family-scale farming back to Iowa and the U.S...
…So no matter what side of the aisle a politician is on, if he or she can be purchased and controlled by Monsanto, then the money starts flowing. Republican? Democrat? Doesnt matter, as long as security in the favoring of corporate interests can be bought! Weather youre voting to repeal those darned ‘socialist’ medical reforms, voting to ‘restore America’s honor,’ voting in angst of lost faith for your former party affiliation, or abstaining from voting in dismay, your voice goes straight to protecting the interests of multinational corporations. These votes are an investment in the future, at least, the future according to Monsanto. Which has the more powerful sway in how you shape your own future, expressing your voice at a voting ballot every so many years, or expressing your voice with the money you spend every moment of the day?
